ایک دن بادشاہ نے دربار میں اعلان کیا:
"آج میں ملا نصیر الدین کو تین ایسے مشکل سوال پوچھوں گا جن کا جواب دینا ناممکن ہے۔ اگر وہ جواب نہ دے سکے تو انہیں سزا ملے گی!"
ملا نصیر الدین مسکراتے ہوئے دربار میں آئے۔ بادشاہ نے پہلا سوال کیا:
بادشاہ: "دنیا کا مرکز کہاں ہے؟"
ملا نصیر الدین: "جہاں میرا گدھا کھڑا ہے، وہی دنیا کا مرکز ہے۔ اگر یقین نہ ہو تو ناپ لیجیے!"
سب درباری ہنسنے لگے
بادشاہ: "دنیا میں کُل کتنے ستارے ہیں؟"
ملا نصیر الدین: "اتنے ہی جتنے میرے گدھے کے بال ہیں۔ اگر شک ہے تو خود گن لیجیے!"
بادشاہ مسکرا دیا
بادشاہ: "کائنات کی سب سے بڑی چیز کیا ہے؟"
ملا نصیر الدین: "بادشاہ کی خواہشیں! کیونکہ وہ کبھی ختم نہیں ہوتیں۔"
یہ سن کر بادشاہ حیران رہ گیا اور بولا:
"ملا نصیر الدین! تم واقعی عقل اور حاضر جوابی میں سب سے بڑے ہو۔ آج تم نے نہ صرف مجھے، بلکہ سب درباریوں کو بھی حیران کر دیا۔"
