ایک بار کی بات ہے، ایک ہلچل بھرے گاؤں میں، مولانا نصرالدین نے اپنا پرانا گدھا بیچنے کا فیصلہ کیا۔ ایک ہوشیار تاجر نے ان سے پوچھا، "آپ کا گدھا کتنے کا ہے؟"
مولانا نے جواب دیا، "صرف ایک سونے کا سکہ!"
تاجر ہنس پڑا۔ "یہ تو بوڑھا اور ہٹ دھرم ہے! میں آدھا سکہ دوں گا۔"
مولانا نے سوچا اور کہا، "ٹھیک ہے، لیکن آدھا اب اور آدھا بعد میں ادا کرو۔"
تاجر مان گیا اور آدھا سکہ دے دیا۔ جب وہ گدھا لے کر چلا تو مولانا نے آواز دی، "یاد رکھو، باقی آدھا گدھے کے مستقبل کے لیے ہے! اگر اچھا سلوک کرے تو ادا کرو۔ ورنہ سبق کے طور پر رکھ لو۔"
تاجر بڑبڑایا مگر اسے پتہ چل گیا کہ حکمت کی قیمت اکثر دگنی ہوتی ہے—یا آدھی کی آدھی۔
سبق: اپنی چیز کی قدر نہ کرو تو دوگنا ادا کرنا پڑے گا۔

English Version: The Donkey's Price
Once upon a time, in a bustling village, Mullah Nasruddin decided to sell his old donkey. A clever merchant approached him and asked, "How much for your donkey?"
Mullah replied, "Just one gold coin!"
The merchant laughed. "It's old and stubborn! I'll give you half a coin."
Mullah thought for a moment and said, "Fine, but you must pay half now and half later."
The merchant agreed and handed over half a coin. As he led the donkey away, Mullah called out, "Remember, the other half is for the donkey's future! If it behaves well, pay up. If not, keep it as a lesson."
The merchant grumbled but learned that wisdom often comes at a price—or half of one.
Moral: Never undervalue what's yours, or you'll pay twice over. See less

Urdu Story: ملا نصرالدین کا عقلمندانہ جواب
ایک دن ملا نصرالدین اپنے گاؤں کے بازار میں بیٹھے تھے کہ ایک شخص نے آ کر پوچھا، "ملا جی، یہ بتائیں کہ دنیا کا سب سے بڑا سوال کیا ہے؟"
ملا نے ایک لمحے کے لیے سوچا اور پھر مسکراتے ہوئے کہا، "سب سے بڑا سوال وہی ہے جو تم ابھی سوچ رہے ہو، کیونکہ جو سوال تمہارے دل میں اٹھتا ہے، وہی تمہاری دنیا کا سب سے بڑا ہوتا ہے۔"
وہ شخص حیران رہ گیا اور ملا کی عقلمندی کی داد دیے بغیر نہ رہ سکا۔

English Story: Mulla Nasruddin's Wise Answer
One day, Mulla Nasruddin was sitting in the village marketplace when a man approached him and asked, "Mulla ji, tell me, what is the biggest question in the world?"
Mulla thought for a moment and then, with a smile, replied, "The biggest question is the one you’re thinking of right now, because the question that arises in your heart is the greatest one in your world."
The man was astonished and couldn’t help but praise Mulla’s wisdom.

ایک بار ملا نصرالدین اپنے گاؤں کے بازار میں گئے۔ وہاں ایک دکاندار نے انہیں ایک سستا سا پھل بیچنے کی کوشش کی، جو دیکھنے میں بالکل تازہ لگ رہا تھا۔ ملا نے پھل کو ہاتھ میں لیا، اسے غور سے دیکھا، اور مسکرا کر دکاندار سے کہا، "یہ پھل تو بہت اچھا ہے، لیکن اس میں ایک کمی ہے۔" دکاندار نے حیرانی سے پوچھا، "کمی؟ یہ تو بالکل تازہ ہے!" ملا نے جواب دیا، "ہاں، لیکن اس کا بیج تو میری جیب میں ہے!" یہ کہتے ہوئے ملا نے اپنی جیب سے ایک بیج نکالا اور سب کے سامنے دکھایا۔ بازار میں موجود سب لوگ ہنسنے لگے، اور دکاندار شرمندہ ہو کر چپ ہو گیا۔ ملا اپنی چالاکی سے نہ صرف پھل مفت میں لے گئے، بلکہ دکاندار کو یہ سبق بھی سکھایا کہ جھوٹ سے کام نہیں چلتا۔

English Story: Mulla Nasruddin's Clever Plan
One day, Mulla Nasruddin went to the village market. A shopkeeper tried to sell him a cheap fruit that looked perfectly fresh. Mulla picked up the fruit, examined it, and with a sly smile, said to the shopkeeper, "This fruit looks great, but it has one flaw." The shopkeeper, surprised, asked, "Flaw? It’s perfectly fresh!" Mulla replied, "Yes, but its seed is in my pocket!" Saying this, he pulled out a seed from his pocket and showed it to everyone. The crowd in the market burst into laughter, and the shopkeeper, embarrassed, fell silent. With his clever trick, Mulla not only got the fruit for free but also taught the shopkeeper a lesson about honesty. See less

One day, Mulla Nasruddin was searching for his lost ring inside his house. He looked everywhere—inside the cupboard, under the bed, even in the kitchen—but the ring was nowhere to be found. Frustrated, he stepped outside and began examining the street closely. A neighbor passing by asked, "Mulla, what are you looking for?" Mulla replied, "My ring is missing." The neighbor, surprised, said, "On the street? Did you lose it outside?" Mulla chuckled and said, "No, I lost it inside the house, but it’s too dark in there. It’s easier to search out here in the light!"
Moral: We often look for solutions where it’s convenient, not where they’re truly needed.

Urdu Story: ملا نصرالدین کی گمشدہ انگوٹھی
ایک دن ملا نصرالدین اپنے گھر میں بیٹھے اپنی انگوٹھی ڈھونڈ رہے تھے۔ وہ ہر جگہ دیکھ چکے تھے، الماری میں، بستر کے نیچے، حتیٰ کہ باورچی خانے میں بھی، مگر انگوٹھی کہیں نہ ملی۔ پریشان ہو کر وہ گھر سے باہر نکلے اور سڑک پر زمین کو غور سے دیکھنے لگے۔ ایک پڑوسی نے پوچھا، "ملا جی، کیا ڈھونڈ رہے ہیں؟" ملا نے جواب دیا، "میری انگوٹھی گم ہو گئی ہے۔" پڑوسی نے حیرت سے کہا، "سڑک پر؟ کیا وہ گھر سے باہر گم ہوئی؟" ملا نے ہنستے ہوئے کہا، "نہیں، گھر کے اندر گم ہوئی ہے، مگر وہاں تو اندھیرا ہے، یہاں روشنی میں ڈھونڈنا آسان ہے!"
سبق: ہم اکثر مسائل کا حل وہاں ڈھونڈتے ہیں جہاں آسان لگتا ہے، نہ کہ جہاں اصل میں ضرورت ہے۔ See less
