One day, the villagers were upset because the king had raised the taxes again. They gathered in the marketplace, complaining about how hard life had become. Just then, Mulla Nasrudin arrived, calmly listening to their worries. After hearing everyone speak, he smiled and said he had a clever plan to solve the problem.

The next morning, Mulla brought a large empty sack to the center of the village. He told everyone to whisper their complaints and anger into the sack. Although the villagers felt silly at first, they did as he said. One by one, they shared their frustrations, and somehow they began to feel lighter and calmer.

Then Mulla carried the sack to the king’s palace. When the king asked what was inside, Mulla replied, “These are the taxes you have collected.” He opened the sack, and it was completely empty. The king looked confused, and Mulla explained that the heavy taxes had left the people with nothing.

The king understood the message and realized his mistake. He decided to reduce the taxes and treat his people more fairly. When Mulla returned with the good news, the villagers cheered. Once again, his wisdom and clever thinking had solved a big problem in a simple way.
